Foteini Asderaki

Foteini Asderaki is a Professor of European Integration Theory and European Education Policy and a Jean Monnet Chair on European Union’s Education, Training, Research and Innovation Policies at the Department of International and European Studies, University of Piraeus, Greece. She is the Chair of the European Doctoral School for the Common Security and Defence Policy of the European Security and Defence College, European/External Action Service, in Brussels. She holds a PhD with distinction in Political Sciences issued by the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. Her thesis was awarded the Honorary Grant of the National Bank of Greece in memory of Theodoros Karatzas by the Hellenic University Association for European Studies in 2008. She has been awarded with Greek and European scholarships and grants (Hellenic State Scholarships Foundation-IKY, Erasmus Program). She is the director of the Laboratory on Education Policy, Research, Development, and Interuniversity Cooperation of the University of Piraeus and the Co-director of the Regional Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence EXCELEM. She has served as a Board member and Vice Chair of the Steering Committee for the Group I-Western Europe and North America at the International Bureau of Education, Unesco, Geneva, 2016-17, as a Bologna Follow-Up Group Member, 2004-09 and as a member of various national, regional, and bilateral committees in education (Member of the Committee for Intercultural Education; Cluster on Modernization of Higher Education; Greek-French committee; Greek-German committee). She is an evaluator of European research programmes and awards. She has been the academic coordinator of several European programmes and the European Parliament School Ambassador Programme in Greece.

Sara De Vido

Sara De Vido is an Associate Professor of international law at Ca’ Foscari university of Venice, Italy, and affiliate to the Manchester International Law Centre, UK. She was vice-director of the Centre for human rights in Ca’ Foscari from 2014 to 2018. She has extensively written on international human rights law, including migration issues, persecution on the basis of gender, and reflected on the role of the European Court of Justice on the protection of migrants’ rights. She is an expert at European level of the Council of Europe Istanbul Convention.

Paul James Cardwell

Paul James Cardwell is a Professor of Law at The Dickson Poon School of Law, King’s College London. He was previously Professor of Law at Strathclyde and City, University of London, and Lecturer/Reader at Sheffield. He is an Honorary Fellow of the Europa Institute, Edinburgh, and has been a Visiting Professor at Bologna, Sciences Po (Grenoble and Paris) and Zagreb.He has published three books, EU External Relations and Systems of Governance (Routledge, 2009), EU External Relations Law and Policy in the Post-Lisbon Era (Springer, 2011) and the Research Handbook on the Politics of EU Law (with M-P Granger, Elgar, 2020). He is completing a monograph on The Governance of External Migration in Europe (OUP, 2023). Paul is the editor of JCMS: Journal of Common Market Studies the leading academic journal in interdisciplinary European studies. He is a Principal Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (PFHEA) with expertise in Erasmus+ and Study Abroad. He is a panel member for the Judicial Appointments Commission, was Treasurer of the University Association for Contemporary European Studies (UACES) (2010-2016), and Deputy Chair of the Lord Chancellor's Advisory Committee for Justice (South Yorkshire/Humber) (2008-2018). He has contributed written evidence to Parliament on EU law.

Hila Zahavi

Dr Hila Zahavi is the Director The Simone Veil Research Centre for Contemporary European Studies is a postdoctoral fellow at the Department of Politics and Government at Ben-Gurion University of the Negev. Her research focuses on Israel- EU relations, diplomacy, and higher education policies. She teaches various European Studies modules at the Department of Politics and Government at Ben-Gurion University of the Negev, and the Open University of Israel. Hila is currently the Director of the Simone Veil Research Centre for Contemporary European Studies, and the elected Secretary General of the Israeli Association for International Studies while she teaches in the Open University of Israel.

Eleftheria Markozani

Dr. Eleftheria Markozani is a researcher of the DIES- UPRC from which she acquired her Phd (with honors) under the aegis of the State Scholarship Foundation. The subject of her thesis lies on the differentiated integration of EU and the European Migration Policy, including security issues. Holding a Bachelor degree of International and European Studies from DIES-UPRC, a Master degree in History of International Relations from the London School of Economics and a second Master in European Affairs from Institut National Universitaire Champollion, she has contributed to the publication of several researches on EU migration policy. Since 2016, she has been working as a Researcher in ‘The Laboratory of Educational Policy, Research, Development and Interuniversity Cooperation’ at DIES and supports the management and implementation of several European programmes (Erasmus KA2 Eastern Mediterranean Partnership, Jean Monnet Network GovUnet, Jean Monnet Network NearEU, Jean Monnet Project “IncludU”, European Parliament School Ambassadors, Jean Monnet Joint Centre of Excellence in Eastern Mediterranean KA2 EUSecure, etc). She currently works in the Department of International and European Affairs of the Ministry of Migration and Asylum of Greece.

Angelos Tramountanis

Angelos Tramountanis is a Researcher at the National Centre for Social Research (EKKE), in Athens, Greece. His field of expertise is on the applied analysis of immigration policy. He is a PhD Candidate at the University of Piraeus on a topic related to the securitisation of migration in Greece, and holds an MA in Migration Studies from Sussex University and a BA in Political Science from the University of Athens. He is teaching the core course “Forced Migration” in the postgraduate “MSc in Media and Refugee / Migration Flows” provided by the University of Athens. He is an evaluator for the AMIF Fund (Asylum Migration and Integration Fund) and has coordinated and participated in a number of research programmes related to immigration. He recently coordinated the Greek team in the international programme “Social Protection responses to Forced Displacement”, which was funded by the World Bank. His main academic interests are on immigration and refugee policy, the social integration of immigrants and refugees, and the politicization and securitization of migration. He has written on the Greek immigration policy, immigrant integration, immigrant entrepreneurship, second generation immigrants, and humanitarian assistance to refugees and asylum seekers in Greece.

Elena Karagianni

Elena Karagianni is the Refugee Education Coordinator for the Greek Ministry of Education at Schistos Refugee Camp. Her basic studies are in Visual Arts and Pedagogy at the School of Fine Arts of Athens and she holds a Master degree in Sciences in Education from the Humanitarian Studies Department of the Greek Open University. In addition she has further trainings in Education for Inclusion from the Greek Kapodistrian University, and more. In 2014 she participated in the Europe Aid Research Mission in Rwanda, “Send my friend to school”, where she did a research on the educational system of the country and how it affected the development of children living in small villages. She has participated as an expert in Refugee Education in several Programs such us: TeachMi, Includu,Teachers4Europe (University of Piraeus), CODES Program (Panteio University). She had the management of the Art is Us Erasmus program which aimed to empower in digital skills and career building, artists from communities that face discrimination (lgbtq, seniors, refugee). She Coordinates and designs art and educational programs which aim at encouraging the Inclusive school but also for refugee children and women and other communities, such as sexworkers, Hiv Positive prisoners, etc. She is the founder of the Art and Action Association.

Petros Petrikkos

Petros Petrikkos is a PhD student in International Relations and European Studies, CSDP Doctoral Fellow at the European Security and Defence College, a Teaching Assistant at the Department of Politics and Governance at the University of Nicosia, and Research Associate at the Diplomatic Academy – University of Nicosia. He holds a MSc in Conflict Studies from the London School of Economics and Political Science and a BA (Hons) in International Relations from Queen Mary, University of Nicosia. He specialises in Security Studies, small states, and hybrid threats. Petros has also developed theoretical and practical knowledge relevant to the Lebanese case study after conducting fieldwork in Beirut, studying civil society, social movements, and the infiltration of groups like Hezbollah in the Lebanese political scene. Petros has offered services to the Republic of Cyprus in strategic planning, co-developing and advising on national action plans for the government. He has been affiliated with the Peace Research Institute Oslo (PRIO) Cyprus Centre and the Institute for the Study of Politics and Democracy (ISPD).
